Corporate Social Responsibility

Positive Training Solutions gladly diverts a percentage of our annual income into the life-changing education programs run by the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre.

The Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC) is a unique and successful specialist education service for children with cerebral palsy and their families. Children who participate in CPEC’s education programs learn a range of skills which enable them to participate actively and independently at home and in their local communities.

CPEC also provides Education & Training Courses across Australia for teachers and therapists who work with children who have cerebral palsy. The Centre is internationally respected for its practical development and application of education and learning programs which are now sought by therapists and teachers from around the world.

I have a personal connection to The Cerebral Palsy Education Centre (CPEC) located at Beacon Street in Glen Waverley, Victoria. My son Matthew Grima attended CPEC for several years and we as a family are forever in debt to CPEC for the opportunity to be able to communicate with Matthew thanks to the extensive efforts and knowledge of the staff. Without CPEC, we would not know how to communicate with Matt and therefore would not be able to experience the truly wonderful personality he has.

Melbourne Christmas Party For Special Children

Sponsoring Logo

Positive Training is a proud Diamond Sponsor of the 2011 Variety Christmas Party for Special Children.

The Melbourne Christmas Party for Special Children has had its association with Variety - the children's charity - since its inception in 1995. The Melbourne Party is reputedly to be one of the largest (if not the largest) annual Christmas Party for Special Children in the World today.

2011 Bank Of Melbourne Marathon Festival

Positive Training is proudly involved with CPEC's sponsorship of the 2011 Bank Of Melbourne Marathon Festival. CPEC are providing 200 volunteers to support the runners again this year. Since 2007 the CPEC families and friends have provided nearly 1200 volunteers for the Melbourne Marathon to support and encourage all of the runners and walkers in and around the MCG area.

CPEC Programs

The delivery of CPEC programs is provided in a “trans-disciplinary team” structure which includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists, along with consultative input from a Hungarian trained conductor (teacher/therapist) and a psychologist.

One of the core aspects of the programs is that the child’s mother (and occasionally the father) participate in the programs full-time so that they learn the principles of the education programs and become confident to apply them in the child’s everyday life beyond the Centre; hence the theme “Learning For Life”.

So dedicated are the parents of older CPEC children who have seen the amazing successes for their own grown child, that many of these parents return as volunteers to assist and support the new mothers and babies starting out on their journey of providing the best life opportunities for their child.

To see the amazing difference CPEC makes in the lives of the children and families who participate in these programs, please take a moment to watch the inspiring video below.

From a service for 22 families in 1998, CPEC has grown to accommodate 94 young children this year who are attending day and after school programs at the centre. However, the demand for CPEC services is increasing and funding limits mean the organisation now has a substantial waiting list and limited vacancies until 2012.

Additional funds would ensure that many more babies with cerebral palsy (brain injury) could come off the three year waiting list to attend the unique CPEC learning programs and become more physically independent by learning to stand, to step, to walk and to communicate, even though they may be unable to speak.

CPEC receives some funding from the Department of Education: Children & Early Childhood, however this funding doesn’t even cover half of the expenses for one child to participate in the programs offered by CPEC. The substantial shortfall in the funding CPEC receives must be fundraised.

As a company, Positive Training Solutions is committed to providing ongoing support to CPEC and has pledged both financial and non-financial support to ensure more families are able to participate in the programs.

Positive Training Solutions is donating a percentage of our profits to CPEC on an ongoing basis. Our donation funds two CPEC kid’s education programs for a year, giving two more families the opportunity to harness the benefits of these life-changing programs.

We are incredibly proud to be making a positive difference in the lives of these very special children and their families and we urge you to consider personally or corporately supporting CPEC too.
